Tayla's blanket

Tayla has become attached to her blanket. She will pull it through the bars of her crib and walk around with it. A few days ago she was so sleepy before lunch that she was laying on the floor with her face snuggled up to her blanket. Yesterday she got it on Xander's peed on sheets so I had to wash it. She was very upset when I took her blanket away. I just returned it to her this morning and as you can see, she was very happy to have it back.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

He can "read" the whole book. Here's just some of the highlights.

Copy Cat

Xander seems to copy Tayla. Yep, the older one emulates the younger one. Is this weird?

Tayla
says, "boop" (book) Xander says buh (for book when we all know he's more than capable of communicating).
Tayla does the sign for "more" Xander does the sign when he wants more.
Tayla tears pages of her books, Xander tears pages of her books.
Tayla throws stuff down the stairs, Xander throws stuff down the stairs.
Tayla throws toys in the garbage, Xander throws more toys in the garbage.
Tayla grabs her blanket out of her crib to snuggle with, Xander takes one of her blankets to snuggle.

The list goes on and on! I rarely see Tayla copy anything Xander does. It seems to be the other way around. And not all of those copies are desirable. It feels like I have two babies now.

The problem: I can't 'baby proof' stuff because Xander can help out when it comes to that. As a team they can create all sorts of mischief. Xander can climb, open doors and all my child safety locks on the cupboards. Once he gives her access to these forbiddens, Tayla orchestrates all the plots to destroy and dispose of! Together they are TROUBLE!

5-4-3-2-1-GO!

I was cleaning up after breakfast. Tayla was still in her high chair, but Xander had gotten down. He goes over to play with Tayla like he often does. He pushes down on her chair and counts backwards from 5. 5-4-3-2-1-go! I was shocked that he counted backwards. I didn't even know he could do that. Thank you Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Seasame Street or whereever he learned that! He did it a second time, so I know it wasn't an accident.

don't lead me

I was holding Tayla's hand and walking around outside with her. (The weather was so nice.) After a while she tears her hand from mine and takes off running. She giggles as she realizes she's gotten free. Less than three steps later, she is lying on the ground. It's fun to see her personality emerge, but I hope this doesn't predict future behavior. It could be a bumpy road for both of us.

It's also nearly impossible to carry her. She throws her head down towards the ground because she wants down so she can walk. Thankfully, I haven't dropped her yet. Everywhere we go, she wants to walk.

Here goes!

I'm would like to try to start blogging because I don't journal very well. There are so many milestone and cute stories about my kids that I don't write down. Hopefully I will catch more of them by blogging. And on the plus side, you can read all about us too. :-)
